Why track mentions?

Understanding when your brand is discussed on 𝕏 helps you:

  • Connect social buzz to revenue spikes - See which mentions actually drive traffic and sales
  • Identify viral moments - Spot when your brand gains traction and capitalize on momentum
  • Time your marketing - Launch campaigns when social conversation is already high

How it works

When someone mentions your tracked keywords on 𝕏, DataFast automatically adds the mention as a note on your analytics chart. You'll see:

  • The actual tweet content in your chart tooltips
  • Mentions aligned with traffic and revenue data
  • Which social conversations led to conversions

Set up mention tracking

  1. Go to your Website Settings > Integrations
  2. Find the Twitter / 𝕏 section
  3. Click the Mentions tab
  4. Add keywords you want to track:

Keywords to track

Add brand names, product names, or campaign hashtags, like DataFast, @datafast_, #DataFastAnalytics, YourProductName.

Keyword rules

  • 4-15 characters per keyword
  • Case insensitive matching
  • Include @ for handle mentions
  • Avoid generic terms to prevent spam

Note: Your domain is automatically tracked - no need to add it manually.

Best practices

  • Track brand name and products — See how they are mentioned on 𝕏.
  • Monitor campaign hashtags - Add hashtags from specific marketing campaigns
  • Avoid generic terms - Don't track words like "analytics" or "software" that create noise
